Shirdi Sai Global Trust Medical Clinic

Medical Camp in Penukonda vom 8. bis 12 Januar 2025

This year’s medical Camp in the Indian town of Penukonda began on the birthday of Sri Kaleshwar Swami, January 8th.

Present at the camp were a dermatologist, Dr. Christian Merkel from Munich, Germany, three hearing aid technicians, Mr. Marcus Brungs and his son Christian Brungs from Engelskirchen, Germany, and Mr. Richard Ivian from Bangalore, India. The ENT (ear, nose and throat) patients were attended to by Dr. Susanne Wagener from Krefeld, Germany.

The local organization, the Shirdi Sai Global Trust, under the leadership of Mrs. Shilpa Anupati, took care of the logistics, including providing the venue, arranging support staff, translators, and the procurement of medications.

For the first time this year, patients from more distant communities were informed about the camp through flyers and public announcements. Patients came from as far as 100 kilometers away, with travel times of up to 3 hours, to bring their mostly severly hearing-impaired children to the camp.

A total of 695 ENT patients and 523 dermatological patients were treated. During the camp, 321hearing aids were fitted, and each patient received batteries for 6 months.

As in previous years, a one-day follow-up camp is planned in approximately 6 months, which will be overseen by hearing aid technician Mr. Richard Ivian from Bangalore. Minor repairs, some readjustments, and battery distribution will take place during this follow-up camp.

Once again, this year’s camp was a great success. The MedicalAid India team from Germany, with the help oft he Shirdi Sai Global Trust team from Penukonda, was able to provide many patients, including numerous children, with a chance for communication, either by restoring or enabling their hearing with the fitted hearing aids. The dedication of both organizations was also recognized by the local press, with a major article in the regional news paper.

Preparations for the 2026 camp, which is expected to take place again in January, have already begun.
